| Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club has, through its annual Charity Golf Day, supported the Vereeniging Child and Family Welfare Society. All the proceeds made at the golf day are donated to the Society. This year the Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Clubs Charity Golf Day will be held in June.
The Vereeniging Child and Family Welfare Society was established in 1922 and serves the Vereeniging community focusing on children in need. The Society cares for all children from before birth until 18 years of age. Services are rendered to the physically and sexually abused, raped and neglected children, orphans and AIDS orphans. Children are placed in a place of safety and foster care. The Society also manages teenage pregnancies, adoptions and provides food and clothes for families with children in need.
This is the only Society in aid of the Vereeniging area and also Rust-ter-Vaal, De Deur and Walkerville areas. As a non-profit organisation, Child and Family Welfare Society receives a subsidy of approximately R 7 000 per month from the Government. With this subsidy the current shortfall for running costs is R 20 000 per month. This amount is ever increasing and therefore the society relies on the generosity of the public to support its work.
